Alphonsa Mount F.C. Convent  Velathussery - 1985

When Mavady became a free parish in 1976, the dire need for a religious house was felt by the parish in all its activities. Sisters from Teekoy convent came here to see to the spiritual needs like preparing the children for First Holy Communion, helping with the Services of the church, making the altar linen and the like. During those days, the only educational institution which was an LP School could not be continued without the service of the sisters. Hence as per the needs of the Vicar Rev. Fr. George Nadackal and ... the parishioners a convent was started here in on 15^th October 1985. Sisters see to all the services of the church viz. catechism, Mission League, KCYM, Prayer Service, Mother’s Meet, House Visiting etc. In short, Alphonsa Mount  Velathussery serves as the ‘light house’ for the people of that Village.
